2) STAR CPU share on RCF ~ 17k nodes
- group_star.cas 5500 - users
- group_star.crs 10665 - production
- group_star.embed 1000 - embedding
- For the past 7 days, STAR has taken the 17.1k slots
Conclusions: suggest to take the following measures until April 4th
- If possible, move all embedding jobs to Cori
- Pause data production after producing Run 18 Isobar st_hf and Run19 200 GeV Au+Au data
3) QM
- Pre-QM meeting: agenda
- Poster: presented online only. Recommended format is a collection of up to 5 slides.
Conclusions: if presenters prefer a one-page poster instead of a 5-slide presentation, that is also fine. Just need to keep in mind that all the posters will be presented online.
4) PWG needs for FCS trigger in Au+Au running (Raghav)
- What triggers need to be prepared, what other running conditions of the detectors are needed, etc.
- A short presentation during forward upgrade meeting on Tuesday March 22nd at 8:30 am
Conclusions:
- Two questions for PWGs to answer: i) if FCS triggers are needed for Au+Au running; ii) if mid-rapidity detectors need to be read out for FCS triggers
- PWGs are encouraged to send in their inputs before hand
- Will confirm with the forward upgrade team to see if they are expecting 1 or multiple presentations
- Keep in mind that the first day of QM rehearsal starts on Mar. 22nd at 9:00 am
5) Rapidity dependence of dE/dx for Isobar dataConclusions:
- Two questions for PWGs to answer: i) if FCS triggers are needed for Au+Au running; ii) if mid-rapidity detectors need to be read out for FCS triggers
- PWGs are encouraged to send in their inputs before hand
- Will confirm with the forward upgrade team to see if they are expecting 1 or multiple presentations
- Keep in mind that the first day of QM rehearsal starts on Mar. 22nd at 9:00 am
- Pion: slide 7 of SLIDES
- Electron: slide 8 of SLIDES
Conclusions: analyzers should pay attention to the rapidity dependence of dE/dx, and probably apply rapidity dependent cuts or corrections to improve resolution.
6) New StRefMultCorr maintainer
Conclusions: Rongrong will follow up with Dan Cebra on possible candidates.
7) Please comment on and approve abstracts/slides/proceedings in time
- sQM abstracts: due Mach 15th
- Moriond starts on March 19th

3) New MuDst->PicoDst conversion request (Priority list)
- JetCorr: Run14 st_physics with HFT P16id to include tower-track matching
Conclusions: added to the priority list after Run12_pp200 dataset
4) Chain options for st_mtd and st_upc production in isobar
Conclusions: it was recommended to use PicoVtxMTD for the st_mtd stream. For st_upc stream, conveners will need to follow up with proponents.
5) dE/dx issue in BES-II
- Detailed presentation by Yige (SLIDES) and Yuri (SLIDES) at the S&C meeting this week
- Yuri will work on improving the dE/dx model, and users can use it to recalculate nSigma based on dE/dx and dE/dx errors saved in PicoDst.
- The observed time dependence is a separate issue, and in principle can be corrected for by hand which needs reproduction. Yuri has already corrected the time dependence he saw during calibration, but do not fully understand the cause.
Conclusions: will re-assess the run dependence once the new dE/dx model becomes available. Meanwhile, extra care needs to be taken by analyzers when using PID information in Run19 19.6 GeV and 14.6 GeV data.
6) QM needs
7) Embedding requests
- Are the following still needed?

1) QM abstracts decision (QM2022)
- 21 parallel talks + 1 plenary talk
- Please comment on and approve merged abstracts promptly. Need to send back to organizers by Feb. 5th
- pre-QM meeting
-- online (organized by AGH University of Science and Technology)
-- March 22nd - April 1st: 9 business days
-- 3 rehearsals between 9 am - 12 pm BNL time each day
-- Extra time for possible re-rehearsals
Conclusions:
- PWGs should also organize their own rehearsals before the collaboration-wide rehearsal.
- Speaker selection will be carried out independent of whether candidates plan to go to QM in person or not. Once selected, it is up to the speaker to decide whether he/she will go in person. Management does not have any preference or policy.
2) QM embedding needs (Production priority)
3) Recent progresses for BES-II embeddings (Xianglei's slides: 20220105, 20220127)
- Special discussion on 01/27: minutes
- Main issues resolved/mitigated. Hope to start embedding production in a week.
Conclusions: people are encouraged to go through the slides and minutes, and report back if they have any concerns of moving forward with the BES-II embedding.
4) Upcoming collaboration meeting (Meeting page)
- Junior's Day: Feb. 14
- Parallel session: Feb. 15 - 18
- Plenary session: Feb. 21 - 25
- Council meeting: Feb. 22
- Management-convener meeting: Feb. 24 (1:30-3:00, tentative)
- Topical presentations: any topics you would recommend to be presented during the collaboration meeting? (Likely a few slots)
5) Analysis info
- Following track cuts (NHitsFit>=15, NHItsFit/NHitsPoss>=0.52) are applied during BTof matching. If one uses BTof matched tracks, these cuts are implicitly applied.
Conclusions: all analyzers should be aware of these implicit cuts. Since these cuts are applied during data reconstruction, any changes to them require reproduction of PicoDst.

1) Express stream data
- Frankfurt group requested to carry out following measurements using BES-II express stream data for preliminary status
-- Observation of He4L, He5L, H4L->tppi
-- Probing hypernuclei structure with Dalitz plot
-- Binding energy vs mass of hypernuclei
- Management's proposal:
-- The express stream data can only be used for the requested analyses, which could be labeled as STAR preliminary. The preliminary figures should be clearly labeled as from the express stream and with non-final calibration.
-- Custom embedding based on the express stream data can be used to derive the preliminary results
-- These results should go through the usual approval procedure in the relevant PWG

Conclusions: conveners generally agree with the proposal. Management will draft a more formal document soon. A few key points:
- This proposal only applies to the three requested analyses. It does not extend to any other datasets or analyses.
- Preliminary results have to go through the usual vetting procedure in the PWG
- Once a preliminary result is approved, there will be no second preliminary with official production
2) Paper preview: Proton Higher Order Cumulants and Correlation Functions in sNN = 3 GeV Au+Au Collisions amd Implication of the QCD Critical Point

1) Discussion of data production priority in light of QM (Priority list)
- Current status of BES-II data production
2) Centrality for 19.6 GeV (Zach's slides)
- A positive correlation between RefMult vs. ZDCrate is observed. A cut of RefMult > 20 decreases the positive slope
- Proposal: proceed with centrality definition without applying any luminosity dependent correction.
- People need to be extra careful when using events with RefMult < 20 as they could be contaminated by non-AuAu events
Conclusions: analyzers need to pay extra attention to those RefMult<20 events in 19.6 GeV. They are probably caused by bad vacuum in the beam pipe, which was opened for installing iTPC during shutdown. These events could potentially be identified by looking at track eta or bTOF timing information, as they are asymmetric. It was also suggested to check abort gaps. This issue should not affect other BES-II datasets.
3) BES-II run QA (Drupal page)
Conclusions: this was discussed later on at the QA board meeting, and several suggestions were received:
- Combine the two lists of variables for TPC performance into one. Replace DCA with sDCAxy, which is more sensitive to space charge calibration. Drop the redundant nHitsFit as it is sensitive to TPC RDO status, which is checked through other variables.
- Remove bTofMult from "bTOF status" as it is redundant to bTofMatch
- Check bTofYLocal and bTofZLocal as they could also be affected by vertex positions, in addition to bTOF calibration
- Need to communicate with eTOF experts to come up with a good list of QA variables
Will identify a volunteer to develop a class for checking bad runs, which can be used by all the analyzers.
4) MuDst to PicoDst conversion: pp500_production_2017(st_physics) with SL21d
- Chain option: latest BEMC calibration, start-less TOF (w.r.t. the default vertex)
- Point of contact for jet tree production: Ting Lin
Conclusions: PWGs will discuss the chain options and come back. One point to keep in mind is that bTOF PID variables are always calculated w.r.t. the default vertex, i.e. the one with highest ranking.
5) How to treat erratum on arXiv
- Add a comment about the erratum and major changes in the abstract
- How to update the paper?
6) Independent checks for key BES-II analyses
- Currently, the net-proton fluctuation analysis is carried out by CCNU, UC Davis, NISER, Tsukuba groups. The light nuclei ratio analysis is carried out by CCNU, UC Davis, IISER Tirupati groups.
- It was suggested to change "independent groups" to "independent institutions" to make it clear, and remove "but exchanges of codes are prohibited." which is often needed to find bugs
- It was suggested to find an independent person to join each focus group of the two key analyses, and oversee/follow the process. This independent person will be the GPC chair later on. It was also suggested to commit the codes to CVS/Git at a later stage to keep track of the changes.
- For the last point of potential analyses making discovery claims, there were concerns about requiring complete independent checks could significantly delay the publication process. There were ideas brought up, such as asking Code QA for some checks, dealing this on a case-by-case basis, etc. We will continue this discussion.
7) QM timelines
- Current status of BES-II data production
- 19.6 GeV - done
- 14.6 GeV - 80% done as of Oct. 26
- Upcoming: FXT - calibration ready; waiting for SL21d
2) Centrality for 19.6 GeV (Zach's slides)
- A positive correlation between RefMult vs. ZDCrate is observed. A cut of RefMult > 20 decreases the positive slope
- Proposal: proceed with centrality definition without applying any luminosity dependent correction.

5) How to treat erratum on arXiv
- Add a comment about the erratum and major changes in the abstract
- How to update the paper?
- Update the original paper incorporating erratum
- Attach the erratum to the beginning of the original paper
- Attach the erratum to the end of the original paper
6) Independent checks for key BES-II analyses
- No preliminary results for the following two measurements, i.e. net-proton kurtosis and light nuclei ratio NtNp/Nd2 vs. collision energy, from BES-II COL and FXT datasets will be released. Independent checks are required for these two measurement.
- Independent checks should be carried out by two groups with independent codes. This can not be done by two analyzers from the same group even if they use independent codes. Consistencies in final results, including central values, statistical and systematic uncertainties, for all energies have to be achieved before the results can be released for publication. Necessary communications between independent groups are allowed to understand discrepancies, but exchanges of codes are prohibited.
- In case of any other analyses which intend to make discovery claims, such as existence of critical point, the independent checks outlined above need to be carried out, which can be done in parallel with the GPC process. No preliminary results will be released for these analyses as well. In case the discovery claim is to be made after preliminary release, the independent checks are still required to be performed before publication.

There were ideas brought up, such as asking Code QA for some checks, dealing this on a case-by-case basis, etc. We will continue this discussion.
7) QM timelines
- Nov. 1st: initial draft to PWG on mailing list. You should present the status of your analysis to PWG soon if you plan to submit an abstract
- Nov. 1st-15th: discussion within PWG about potential merging. Once your abstract is given green light to go ahead by the conveners, please submit through the Drupal interface
- Nov. 15th: all abstracts uploaded to Drupal for official approval
- Nov. 30th: deadline to QM submission

- Chain option: latest BEMC/EEMC calibration, start-less TOF (w.r.t. the default vertex)
Conclusions: will use the default vertex for the production, and the updated chain options are:
2) Discussion of QM abstracts (ABSTRACTS)
- Previous QM: 17-18 parallel talks + 1 upgrade talk + 1 plenary talk
- Discard submissions on Drupal unless the abstract is not to be merged
Conclusions:
- The guidance is to merge the proposed ~80 abstracts to ~30. Conveners will discuss and come up with a list of merges by Tuesday next week.
- For merged abstracts, if the PAs can decide on the speakers, non-speakers can submit their abstracts as posters. Otherwise, they need to either write generic poster abstracts with presenters to be decided later on or not submit poster abstracts. This is different from conference suggested merges, in which case non-speakers' abstracts are usually accepted as posters.
- Talks and posters of undecided presenters will be submitted centrally to QM by PAC, while all other posters will be submitted by presenters themselves to QM
- Chain option: latest BEMC/EEMC calibration, start-less TOF (w.r.t. the default vertex)
