NOTES

2) Production and embedding status
  • Production
    • MuDst->PicoDst conversion:
      • Run 12 pp st_physics - done, st_zerobias will be produced after QM
      • Run 18 Isobar st_hf - done
    • DAQ->MuDst->PicoDst production for Run19 200 GeV Au+Au
      • Will start soon, if not already
      • first pass to use the AuAu vertex finder; users will analyze the data to see if a second pass for UPC events is needed
      • PicoDst chain option: PicoVtxDefault PicoCovMtxWrite
3) StRefMultCorr definition for 19.6 GeV is now ready in DEV. Trigger inefficiency correction for isobar is also updated.
  • Path on DEV: /afs/rhic.bnl.gov/star/packages/DEV/StRoot/StRefMultCorr
  • Example macro: /star/u/gnigmat/soft/u/refMultCorr/checkStRefMultCorr.C
  • Bad run and pileup rejection need to be done explicitly by analyzers by calling functions in StRefMultCorr
Conclusions: will work on automating bad run and pileup event rejection within StRefMultCorr after QM

4) New StRefMultCorr maintainer

Conclusions: will follow up on this

5) PWG needs for FCS trigger in Au+Au running (Raghav)
- What triggers need to be prepared, what other running conditions of the detectors are needed, etc.
- A short presentation during forward upgrade meeting on Tuesday March 22nd at 8:30 am

Conclusions: PWGs should send inputs, which could be no FCS triggers needed, to Raghav over the weekend

AOB:
- For some institutions, a large fraction of their disk quote on RCF is not used, while for some other institutions disk space is critically needed. Will look into if it is possible to utilize those unused disk space.
- No PWGC meeting for the next three weeks due to pre-QM meeting and QM conference

1) Possible merging of JetCorr and HF PWGs

Conclusions: conveners are supportive of this proposal. The next step is to bring this up for discussion in JetCorr and HF PWGs, and seek feedback.

2) Data production news
  • Daq production
    • Run18 st_mtd, st_upc chains are ready to start
    • Run19 & 20 FXT datasets completed. Issue with eTOF. Need a reproduction of MuDst->PicoDst for Run20 FXT
    • Run19 AuAu200 done
  • MuDst->PicoDst conversion
    • Run17 pp500_production, paused due to NFS storage limitation, resume soon
    • Run18 isobar st_hf completed
  • Calibrations
    • Run21 Large calibration production for AuAu7.7 collisions has started
    • Run22 pp510
      • TPC space charge initial calibration, another iteration has begun
Conclusions: LFSUPC will look into Run19 200 GeV data, and decide whether a second production pass with a specific vertex finder for low multiplicity events is needed, and if so what the strategy is to carry out the second pass.

3) Discussion on forward detector triggering in Au+Au
- A followup meeting was proposed by the forward upgrade group on Apr. 26th 8:30am

Conclusions: conveners will bring this up for discussion in PWG meetings next week, and provide feedback. Such a discussion is also needed for this year's BUR, where we need to outline a concrete plan of how to run STAR in 2023-25.

4)Work on BUR highlight section

STAR PWGC meeting

Friday, 22 April 2022

1) Possible merging of JetCorr and HF PWGs

Conclusions: generally positive feedback from PWG members so far. Conveners are trying to gather more comments from active members who were not able to join this week's PWG meetings. If no strong objections raised, we will proceed with the merging in the near future.

2) Discussion on forward detector triggering in Au+Au

Conclusions: most of PWGs are fine with reading out forward detectors without triggering on them in Au+Au running. Couple of ideas on triggering were raised, and conveners will follow up with the proponents.

3) Embedding request for Run19 14.6 GeV (intended for sQM)
  • 1 embedding request each for K+, K-, pi+, and pi-
  • run 19 Au+Au BESII
  • 14.5 GeV (P21ic, production_14p5GeV_2019)
  • Minbias Triggers: 650000
  • -70cm < Vz < 70cm and Vr < 2cm
  • 0-80% Centrality
  • 5% refmult particles embedded in each event
  • Uniform in Rapidity: [-1.5,1.5]
  • Uniform in pT: [0.0,5.0]
  • Uniform in phi: [0,2π]
  • 1.5M Events
Conclusions: will increase the vz range to |vz| < 150 cm and increase the statistics by a factor of 2 accordingly. Will also add protons/anti-protons such that these embedding samples can be used by more analyses. The embedding requests will be made of high priority since it is aimed for sQM.

4) Collect preliminary figures (ARXIV)

Conclusions: it turned out that it is quite difficult, if not impossible, to upgrade Drupal for STAR given the large volume of contents accumulated in the past 20+ years. Therefore, a central repository for preliminary figures on Drupal is unlikely. We will continue the following practice: i) for any new preliminary results, PA should create a Drupal blog page to host the preliminary figures (in pdf format) and preliminary request slides; ii) conveners collect links to these Drupal pages and put them in a central place (ARXIV)
