AuAu 200 GeV Run14 Pythia8 Heavy Flavor Jets Simulation and Embeddin

Request TypeEvent generator simulation
Description
PYTHIA 8 STAR Tune (https://drupal.star.bnl.gov/STAR/system/files/Kelsey_MPI_RHIC_PYTHIA8_Tune_11Oct2021.pdf) Heavy Flavor Jet Events in 200 GeV Au+Au, VPDMB-5 && VPDMB-30 trigger, SL18f library

This simulation and embedding will help facilitate jet shape measurements for heavy flavor jets including unfolding and comparisons to an unquenched sample.

PYTHIA8 events with
cc ̅ events only

Relevant setting in Pythia 8

  • pythia8->readString("HardQCD:gg2ccbar = on")
  • pythia8->readString("HardQCD:qqbar2ccbar = on")
  • pythia8->readString("Charmonium:all = on")

Decay of D0 meson turned off in PYTHIA

Relevant setting in Pythia 8

  • pythia8->particleData.readString("421:mayDecay = 0")
The Heavy Flavor Tracker (HFT) detector need to be included in the geometry. The event vertices can be sampled from real Run14 events.

The output files can be retained in both MuDst and PicoDst (with VertexVpdOrDefault).

pT-hard bins + numbers of events:

3-5     : 5M
5-7     : 10M
7-9     : 10M
9-11   : 5M
11-15 : 5M
15-20 : 5M
20-25 : 5M
25-30 : 1M
30-40 : 1M
40-50 : 0.5M
50-inf : 0.5M

Total  = 48M

"Good"  events are defined by the following criteria:

  1. Must have a D0 in the event (Decay D0 to KPi in GEANT)
  2. D0 must be part of a anti-kT jet with R = 0.4 with pT > 3 GeV/c, as defined by FASTJET

This is a Pythia Simulation and the same events can be later embedded in Run14 Au+Au min-bias events.

Small sample of 5M in pthatbin 3-inf may be needed first to do basic QA using tight track cuts which are used for high-pt and jet analyses.

=========================

Agenda:

1) BES-II Data QA Algorithm -- Prithwish or Hu

1. In the code, for runs that do not pass multiple variables’ quality check, it will only marked as bad for the first failed variable.

   Suggestions: it would be good to make matrix/table, so it shows all the failed variables for the bad run. And for each bad run, it is useful to check the run-log browser to identify the reasons.

2. Some of the cuts should be changed:

    1) TPC z-vertex cut.

    2) As iTPC is used, it is also good to lower pt threshold (current one is 0.2GeV). Maybe good to do a separate track pt, eta, phi QA.

    3) Vpdvz cut should not be used in BES-II data.

 3. We need a list of variables from each working group to do this QA, it should be discussed in each group and report next Friday:

      Daniel: centrality.

      Chenliang: LF

      Ashish: bulk cor,

      Ashik: FCV

      Kaifeng: HF

      Tong: jet cor

4. The code will remove runs with empty events. BTOFmatch is used for each event, not each tracks. EPD hits can be different at the beginning of the run as the setup changes.
