Run-9 p+p 500 GeV embedding for W cross section analysis
Updated on Mon, 2011-09-05 09:47 by rfatemi. Originally created by sichterm on 2010-09-28 14:50.Run-8 200 GeV p+p embedding to study FMS+FTPC correlations
Updated on Fri, 2011-12-09 18:45 by tjt. Originally created by sichterm on 2010-09-28 14:25.This embedding request serves the efficiency and resolution determination in FMS+FTPC correlation studies in run-8 p+p 200 GeV collisions. The request page may be found at:
http://www.star.bnl.gov/protected/spin/drach/Run8FMS/FTPC_sim/embedding/
The requests consist in embedding 20k positively charged pions and 20k negatively charged pions in events triggered by the FMS-slow (ID 220980 or 220981) trigger in each of six pion transverse momentum intervals: 0.2-0.5 GeV, 0.5-1 GeV, 1-1.5 GeV, 1.5-2 GeV, 2-3 GeV, 3-4 GeV. The momentum distribution should be flat within each interval. Note that it is thus _not_ flat versus transverse momentum in the range 0.2-4 GeV.
It has been suggested that compute resources can be reduced by embedding multiple particles in a single event, up to 6 particles per event. One way to do this would be to include a track from each pT bin in each event. Alternatively, 6 tracks could be drawn following a "double step-function" probability distribution from the full range of 0.2-4 GeV. Experts should decide what is most practical.
A list of .daq files to embed in is given in the above link.
