a) The long persisting bug of Z-split in alignment is resolved. Some minor issues are remaining at ~10micron level plus usage of TRS in simulations. Jonathan has a couple of slides on this.

b) As we get closer to the engineering run, and run-14 next year, Jerome asked me (again) to migrate codes and modules we use into the official dev, CVS controlled areas since we need to follow standard admission and QA procedures. This means that code in private dungeons, twisted this or the other way to work, or code in concept form etc needs to get materialized, selected, streamlined, tested, reviewed and become part of the STAR library. To this end I will have as a standard item in every meeting progress on this item. The agreement is to start with the simulation codes but we also need to develop the data stream as well, especially for the PXL part. Jon. and I will start building an outline of what is needed, a seed diagram to start the discussion as we first need to clarify/identify the modules we need, the sequence of implementation and the ordering of the compromises we make as intermediate steps are needed.

c) Yaping put together some excellent documentation of his work on IST modeling. This should serve as an example to follow. I haven't seen something so thorough since the days of Liliian Martin's docs in the SSD area. Yaping's work on the IST slow simulation and Geant modeling are two examples of pieces of work we need to implement and start using in our simulations.

d) Jerome is looking for volunteers to help evaluating the STV tracker. This is the evolution of STI, our standard tracker in STAR, but with many features and add ons, like working inside root-VMC etc etc. Jason put some initial info (links) here:

http://drupal.star.bnl.gov/STAR/blog/jwebb/2012/dec/10/stv-base-qa-code-archeology

Our group committed some help but let me know if you are interested. This is a thankless, service job but an excellent opportunity for students to jumpstart work in STAR computing environment.

The (so far) agenda for the meeting today includes:

1) I posted an updated version of my UCLA-HF talk about HFT goals for Run-13.

It includes some hard numbers after Flemming/Amilkar produced/found some

important plots. Have a look and make comments if any.

2) I gave a summary of activities and plans in the HFT meeting (face to face). The talk is  here:

http://drupal.star.bnl.gov/STAR/event/2012/12/04/hft-management-and-technical-meeting/software-prep-eng-run

It contains slides about recent Alignment work. Time permitting I will prepare some more for today's meeting.

3) In the same meeting Hao presented a Survey update. The file is here:

http://drupal.star.bnl.gov/STAR/event/2012/12/04/hft-management-and-technical-meeting/pxl-survey

4) After an impasse in resolving the dZvsz 'kink' bug in Alignment we talked to Yuri and he suggested

a few things. Half of the effect is gone now and we are confident that we will close this bug after we

get some TFS (Tpc fast simulator) irregularities fixed. Jonathan is preparing a few slides on this topic.

5) AOB

1) Offline chain. Updates to simulation chain. Hit structure(s).
2) First IST survey
3) AOB

Reminder: As code and modules are created developer need to
make sure that:
i)   Follow the STAR coding rules and conventions
ii)  The code needs to be peer reviewed
iii) There must be some kind of documentation, cvs committed
Jerome maintains detailed web instructions on all topics. I
linked them from our Drupal->Subsystem->HFT
(http://drupal.star.bnl.gov/STAR/subsys/hft) pages under HELP
and Developers for now (I plan a major overhaul of this page
to better reflect the Software structure).

As a first step we will setup a peer review of the pxl fast
simulator (mustafa/jonathan) after the new hit structure is
implemented and the code is cleaned up and BEFORE it gets
committed to StRoot CVS area.
