Breakdown of MC numbers in different preshower bins
Breakdown of MC numbers in different preshower bins
I performed this study to see B/S ratio in different preshower bins scaled to data luminosity of 3.146 Pb-1
before we really start running any TMVA classifier on run6 simulation.
Preselection Cuts
(i) z vertex cut -100cm<z<100cm
(ii) Neutral fraction of jet matched to photon >0.9
(iii) cos(phi_gamma - phi_jet)<-0.8
(iv) |eta_jet|<0.8
(v) ptGamma > 7.0 GeV
(vi) ptJet > 5.0 GeV
(vii) 1.08 < eta_gamma<2.0
(viii) Number of hits in each SMD plane > 3
(ix) Away side jet neutral fraction <0.9
This table lists signal and background events after applying above mentioned cuts. Please note that these
numbers are scaled to our data luminosity of 3.146 pb-1.
Preshower condition | Signal events | Background events | B/S |
No | 946 | 82173 | 87 |
First bin (Pre1=0, Pre2=0) | 56 | 406 | 7.2 |
Second bin (Pre1=0, Pre2>0) | 107 | 2100 | 19.6 |
Third bin (0<Pre1<0.004GeV) | 265 | 11217 | 42.3 |
Fourth bin (closed) (0.004<Pre1<0.01GeV) |
224 | 19597 | 87.5 |
Fourth bin (open) (Pre1>0.004GeV) |
518 | 68455 | 132.5 |
Conclusion: Since we have huge B/S ratio, it's difficult to separate signal from background in these preshower bins.
